Medical referrals from Coffs Harbour’s healthcare professionals

Coffs Medical Centre offers a variety of expert medical services to patients throughout Coffs Harbour and the surrounding areas. Operating within a fully confidential capacity and working alongside a team of allied health professionals, we provide everything from prescriptions and medical referrals to interpreter services for refugee patients, and our team is committed to delivering the best quality care that we can.

Repeat prescriptions and referrals

If you need a repeat prescription or a medical referral, please make an appointment with one of our doctors so that we may carry out a health check.

Once your doctor is satisfied that you need a referral or ongoing prescription, he or she will update your medical records accordingly and contact a specialist as appropriate.

Please note that it is not permissible for your doctor to issue backdated referrals, so please ensure you have a referral prior to your specialist appointment.

Medical certificates

To receive a medical certificate that will allow you time off work, you must first visit your doctor so he or she can examine you.

They will then issue the certificate once your medical condition has been confirmed. Medical certificates cannot be backdated.

If you’re awaiting results from blood tests or any other procedure, a doctor’s appointment will be necessary. This will allow your doctor to discuss the results with you and explain what they mean, in addition to informing you about any further treatment that may be required.

In special circumstances, your doctor may agree to deliver results over the phone.
